Nestled at 120 Newkirk Rd in Richmond Hill, Vida Cafe & Lounge is one of those places that could either become your new favorite hangout or leave you scratching your head, wondering what just happened. As you walk in, the vibe is kind of inviting. The decor—a mix of trendy and cozy—makes you feel like you’re unwinding in someone’s living room after a long day. But then, uh-oh, is that the DJ cranking the tunes too loud? You might have to shout to hear your friends unless you relocate to one of those quieter nooks.
Now, I’ve been to Vida a few times. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, honestly. Some nights, I’ve enjoyed the shisha. Other times, it felt more like an afterthought. The food, on the other hand, tends to hit the mark. I mean, who doesn’t love a good Kobideh or Soltani? And let’s not even get started on that Baba Ghanoush; it’s pretty much a must-try!
Service? Ah, there’s where things get a bit rocky. I’ve experienced moments of excellent staff interaction, but, unfortunately, others when I nearly lost my patience waiting for my order. 84 reviews averaging a 3.6 star rating maybe tells the whole story—potential, but room for improvement.
What’s cool, though, is the new ownership apparently shaking things up. They’ve got hopes for a rebranding that could bring about a fresh vibe.
